This Privacy Policy explains how TradeGuard ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects your information when you use our Chrome extension and related services. We are committed to protecting your privacy and complying with the Google API Services User Data Policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect different types of information depending on how you use TradeGuard:

A. Google Account Data (When You Sign In)

When you choose to sign in with Google, we access:

  • Email address - for account identification and communication
  • Name - for personalizing your experience
  • Profile picture - for displaying in your account profile

B. Locally Stored Data (Chrome Extension)

The following data is stored only in your browser's local storage:

  • Risk settings (allowed risk %, R-Multiple limits)
  • Trade blocking statistics
  • User preferences and language settings

C. Anonymous Analytics Data

To improve our service, we collect anonymous usage data through PostHog analytics:

  • Anonymous unique identifier (randomly generated UUID, not linked to your identity)
  • Extension usage events (e.g., trade blocked, settings changed)
  • Extension version and browser information
  • No IP addresses, trade amounts, account balances, or personally identifiable information is collected

2. How We Use Your Data

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • Account creation and authentication via Google Sign-In
  • Providing and maintaining the TradeGuard service
  • Managing your subscription and processing payments
  • Sending important service notifications
  • Providing customer support
  • Improving our services based on usage patterns

Important: We do NOT use your Google data for advertising, marketing to third parties, or AI/ML model training purposes.

3. Data Storage and Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:

  • Data in transit: Protected with TLS 1.3 encryption
  • Data at rest: Encrypted using AES-256 encryption
  • Server infrastructure: Hosted on secure cloud servers with regular security audits
  • Access controls: Strict employee access policies - only authorized personnel can access user data for support purposes
  • Local extension data: Stored in Chrome's secure local storage, never transmitted to external servers

4. Data Sharing and Third Parties

We only share your data in the following limited circumstances:

  • Stripe (Payment Processor): We share your email for subscription management and payment processing. Stripe's privacy policy: https://stripe.com/privacy
  • PostHog (Analytics Provider): We send anonymous, non-personally-identifiable usage data to PostHog for product analytics. No personal information, trade data, or financial data is shared. PostHog's privacy policy: https://posthog.com/privacy
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose data if required by law or valid legal process
  • Security: To investigate security incidents or protect against fraud

We do NOT sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We do NOT share your data with advertisers, data brokers, or information resellers.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your data according to the following policy:

  • Active accounts: Data is retained while your account is active
  • Account deletion: Upon request, your data will be permanently deleted within 30 days
  • Inactive accounts: We may delete data from accounts inactive for more than 24 months after notification
  • Local data: Automatically deleted when you uninstall the Chrome extension

How to Delete Your Data:

  • Use the 'Delete Account' option in your account settings
  • Contact us via Discord to request data deletion
  • Uninstall the extension to remove all locally stored data

6. Google API Services Compliance

TradeGuard's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:

  • We only use Google data for providing and improving user-facing features that are prominent in our application
  • We do not transfer Google user data to third parties except as necessary to provide our service, with user consent, or for security/legal reasons
  • We do not use Google user data for advertising purposes
  • We do not allow humans to read Google user data unless: (a) we have user consent, (b) it's necessary for security, (c) it's required by law, or (d) the data is aggregated and anonymized

7. Browser Permissions

TradeGuard requests only the minimum permissions necessary to function:

  • storage: To save your risk settings locally in your browser
  • activeTab: To read trading information from the current exchange page
  • host_permissions: To operate only on supported exchange websites (Binance, Bybit)
  • identity: To enable Google Sign-In for account authentication
  • scripting: To inject trade monitoring scripts on supported exchange pages
  • host_permissions (us.i.posthog.com): To send anonymous analytics data to our analytics provider

8. Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your data:

  • Access: Request a copy of your personal data
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your data
  • Portability: Request your data in a portable format
  • Revoke Consent: Revoke Google Sign-In authorization at any time via your Google Account settings

9. Children's Privacy

TradeGuard is not intended for use by children under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the 'Last Updated' date and, for significant changes, by sending an email notification or displaying a prominent notice in our application.
